DIDSBURY - Residents in Didsbury wanting to report non-emergency issues and concerns to the municipal enforcement department can now use a newly created 24-hour complaint line.

The Town of Didsbury's chief administrative officer Ethan Gorner outlined the launch of the new line at the Nov. 26 council meeting.

“To improve streamlining of receiving, reporting and attending calls related to the municipal enforcement department, Didsbury now has a dedicated line for all non-emergency calls related to municipal enforcement,” he said.

“All calls will be forwarded/transferred or called directly by residents to this dedicated phone line.”

The town will be advertising the new line on its website and social media, he said.

The new Didsbury Municipal Enforcement 24-Hour complaint line for non-emergencies is 1-825-630-2037.

Meanwhile, Gorner also reported that municipal enforcement officers have been keeping very active these days.

“Municipal enforcement has been busy visiting various places in the community, including stopping at the Memorial Complex and library to introduce themselves and demonstrate their willingness to be involved in community events,” he said.

Activities officers have been involved in include helping the Didsbury High School forensic course, serving hot lunch at the school, participating in the Westglen School Snack Shack, visiting with young mothers and their kids at Didsbury Neighbourhood Place, and working with the library on outreach programming.

As for enforcement, officers have made school zones and community engagement in schools a priority, he said.

“They have focused their time in school zones during high traffic times such as the morning when school is letting in  and the afternoon when everyone is released,” he said.

Officers have also been working on more engagement with town seniors, he said.

Gorner’s report, which also included an update on recent activities of the economic development officer and strategic operations coordinator, was accepted as information.
