DIDSBURY – RCMP are asking for public assistance in locating a 37-year-old Didsbury man charged following a break-in and theft in Hanna on Jan. 20.
David Alfred Matschke, 37, faces three charges of unlawful use of credit card obtained by the commission of an offence, five charges of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, mischief, three charges of theft under $5,000, and two charges of possession of property exceeding $5,000.
According to police, a vehicle parked at the Canalta Hotel in Hanna was broken into and a number of items taken, including a fuel pump pressure testing kit, a Hilti impact gun (a wrench), dash camera, miscellaneous hand tools and a credit card.
The following day the credit card was used to buy fuel at the Husky gas station in Hanna, say police.
Video surveillance photos were obtained of the suspects and suspect vehicles.
Matschke is described as Caucasian, 5’5” tall, 134 pounds, brown hair and blue eyes.
Police says Matschke should not be approached. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is being asked to call Hanna RCMP at (403) 854-3393 or Crime Stoppers.
A second man, Johnathan Davis McMartin, 19, of Olds, faces the same charges as Matschke.
He was arrested by Olds RCMP on Jan. 24 on unrelated matters.
McMartin has been released on no cash bail pending a Feb. 26 court appearance in Hana provincial court.
