DIDSBURY - Human remains believed to be those of a Didsbury man reported missing from his home on March 28 have been found, police said Monday.

At about 12:15 p.m. on April 3, search and rescue personnel located what are believed to be the remains of Ryan Sutherland, 44, in a wooded area, said RCMP Cpl. Gina Slaney. She did not say where the wooded area is located.

“The circumstances regarding the death remain under investigation by Southern Alberta Serious Crimes Branch,” Slaney said in a release issued today.

On March 31, when police reported that Sutherland was missing, Slaney said there was no indication his disappearance involved foul play.

An autopsy has been ordered by the office of the Chief Medical Examiner and is scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

“Our sincerest condolences go out to Ryan’s family and friends,” Slaney said in the release.
