DIDSBURY - The Town of Didsbury will be taking over the decorating the municipality’s downtown core after the Didsbury and District Chamber of Commerce announced that it would not be continuing the annual Christmas tradition, officials said.

The garland and lights used in the displays have been gifted to the Town of Didsbury, which will be working with local contractors over the coming weeks to install the decorations. The town will also be adding additional decorations.

“Adding to the beauty of downtown Didsbury that traditionally brightens the atmosphere of the Christmas season and highlights the sparkle that has become our town’s special seasonal glow is important to our community,” said Town of Didsbury Mayor Rhonda Hunter.

“We all need that sparkle in our lives during these special celebrations and season, and even more during these challenging times we are living in. We look forward to working with our community to build and grow these light and garland projects for the seasons ahead.”

The chamber of commerce had overseen the installation of the garland and light displays for more than a decade. Hunter commended chamber members for their past efforts.
