The province has reported the second consecutive day of double-digit COVID-19 infections.
In a press release, the province said there have been 96 new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Alberta bringing the total number of cases to 5,766 as of Sunday, May 3. An additional Albertan has died bringing the provincial total to 95 COVID-19 related deaths.
Of the reported cases of COVID-19 in Alberta, 2,713 people have fully recovered.
There are a total of 90 people who are currently hospitalized with COVID-19 and 19 of them have been admitted to intensive care units.
The press release stated that 743 cases are suspected to be a result of community transmission.

Albertans can help prevent the spread of the virus by practising good hygiene which includes cleaning hands regularly, avoiding touching their face, coughing or sneezing into an elbow and disposing of tissues properly.
Symptoms of COVID-19 include cough, runny nose, sore throat, fever and shortness of breath.

In the last 24 hours, 3,728 lab tests have been completed. A total of 152,123 people have been tested for the virus in total.
The province launched the tracer app ABTraceTogether earlier this week to help enhance Public Health’s ability to trace the virus and facilitate early detection of infections to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
The press release states that secure contact tracing will be an essential part of Alberta’s Relaunch Strategy.
The use of the app is voluntary and since its launch, more than 86,000 users have registered.
