ST. PAUL – As soon as the puck hit the ground on Feb. 2, the St. Paul Canadiens pulled no stop with six unanswered goals just in the first period against the Onion Lake Border Chiefs at the Clancy Richard Arena.
Kolby Miller opened the scoring at the first minute into the game, assisted by Treston Moisey and Brennen Riopel. The onslaught continued with goals from Kelton McAuley, Kaden Cardinal, Isaak Watters, Jacob Leroux, and William Chemago, ending the period 6-1.
The Canadiens further extended their lead in the second period with five more goals. Watters and Kayden Morrison scored for the Canadiens, before the Onion Lake Border Chiefs ended the Canadiens' streak with a goal from Colt Desjarlais halfway through the period.
Konnor Poitras, Parker Sabatier, and Quinn Szpak, immediately responded with each of a goal of their own, ending the second period with a score of 11-1.
The Canadiens remained relentless in the third period, adding nine more additional goals to their tally. Quinn Szpak netted two goals within the first one and a half minute into the period, assisted by Chemago. With goals from Kaden Bolter, Isaak Watters, Kelton McAuley, Jarett Boulianne, and Kaden Cardinal following suit.
Ultimately, the Canadiens won the game 20-1.
The following day, the Canadiens headed to Vermillion to face off against the Vermilion Tigers, where they also won the game 7-2.
The Canadiens' will host two home games this week, the first one Feb. 8 against the Lloydminster Bandits, and the second on Feb. 9, against the Cold Lake Ice.
The Canadiens are sitting in first place in the NEAJBHL, a couple points ahead of the Wainwright Bisons.
