You get what you give in hockey.
And for Okotoks Oilers playmaker Owen MacNeil, a three-game stretch with seven assists and eight points over three wins earned the 2003-born forward the Pizza 73 Alberta Junior Hockey League Player of the Week honours for Nov. 20-26.
MacNeil, who signed with the Oilers in early-October after four seasons in the Western Hockey League, is on a four-gamer point streak in which the Calgarian has racked up 11 points.
He had three assists in the Nov. 20 win over the Calgary Canucks, a goal and two assists in the Nov. 24 romp over the Olds Grizzlys and chipped in with two helpers in the Green and Gold’s 5-4 overtime win over the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Nov. 25.
Canmore Eagle Brody Mortensen was named the Alberta Ford Dealers’ AJHL Defensive Player of the Week with Brooks Bandits freshman Logan Sawyer taking home the Inter Pipeline Rookie of the Week recognition for the third time.
MacNeil is the third Oiler to be a weekly award winner this season, joining blueliners Ethan O’Halloran and Sam Hall who both took Defensive Player of the Week honours over the past five weeks.
The Oilers, riding a five-game winning streak, are home this weekend to the Bonnyville Pontiacs and Fort McMurray Oil Barons on Dec. 1 and 2. Both games are 7 p.m. starts at Okotoks Centennial Arenas.
