Turnabout was fair play in a rematch one year in the making.
The Carstar Okotoks Bisons got a measure of revenge on the Wainwright Bisons from last year’s provincial final, taking the Battle of the Bisons Saturday night by a 4-3 score in overtime to advance to the final of the Hockey Alberta Junior B Provincial Championships in Peace River.
Blueliner Kegan Law ended the contest with a powerplay tally with 1:34 left in the first overtime period to send the herd to its second consecutive provincial gold medal game.

Wainwright, the defending champions, took a 2-0 lead with Jake Snashall and Easton Dean answering back for Okotoks late in the four-goal middle frame.
The teams exchanged goals in the third stanza with Daniel Tainton’s goal on the man advantage countered by Wainwright’s Dalton Irvine, also on the powerplay, in a true special teams battle.
Law finished with a game high goal and two assists with captain Lucas Watkins adding a pair of helpers. Grady Nicholas had 18 saves for his third win of the tournament.
Okotoks will play the La Crete Lumber Barons for the provincial gold on Sunday, Aug. 7 at 2 p.m.
La Crete is the only undefeated team in the competition and got the better of Okotoks in day two of the provincials in a 5-1 result despite Okotoks having a heavy edge in shots on goal.
The bronze medal game pits Wainwright and the St. Albert Merchants.
