St. Albert's own Matt Savoie, a first-round pick in the 2022 NHL entry draft, is reportedly in line to make his NHL regular season debut tonight with the Buffalo Sabres, according to the team.
Per head coach Don Granato ahead of tonight’s game:

🔹 Alex Tuch is “questionable” to play
🔹 Matt Savoie is set to make his debut
🔹 Dylan Cozens will play
🔹 Mattias Samuelsson is a possibility for tomorrow’s game
Savoie, whose older brother Carter is a prospect with the Edmonton Oilers, played minor hockey with the St. Albert Raiders and the Northern Alberta X-treme hockey academy before a prolific two-year stint in the WHL with the Winnipeg Ice where he did nothing but impress professional scouts.
Savoie started this season with the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans, the minor league affiliate club of the Buffalo Sabres, who picked Savoie in the 2022 draft.
In his first six games with the Americans this year Savoie had two goals and three assists.
Savoie will join a young and skilled Sabres team that also features St. Albert's own Tyson Jost, who has over 400 NHL regular season games under his belt.
The Sabres are playing the Minnesota Wild in Buffalo, with puck-drop scheduled for 5:00 p.m. MST.
