ST. PAUL – The St. Paul Canadiens secured a 6-1 victory over the Cold Lake Ice in a recent match-up at the Clancy Richard Arena on Dec. 1.
The Canadiens took control of the game early on, with William Chemago netting a goal at 12 minutes into the first period, assisted by Noah Balmer. Cold Lake struggled to respond, unable to find the back of the net.
The second period saw St. Paul extending the lead with two additional goals. Kaden Cardinal found the mark just 52 seconds into the period, assisted by Quinn Szpak and Rylan Cardinal. Shortly after, Rylan Cardinal also scored, with assists from Kaden Cardinal and Treston Moisey. The Canadiens entered the final period with a comfortable 3-0 lead.
The Cold Lake Ice finally broke through at the eight minute mark of the third period when Carter Marcoux capitalized on an opportunity, with Christian Foisy providing the assist. However, any hopes of a comeback were quickly dashed as St. Paul responded with three more goals.
Damian Langevin-Whitford found the net, assisted by Dymitri Myshaniuk and Kaden Bolter, about halfway through the third period. William Chemago then added his second goal of the night 11 minutes in, with Kohlsin Bear and Kaden Cardinal assisting.
Kaden Cardinal, with five minutes left in the game, assisted by Rylan Cardinal and Szpak, nailed in the Canadiens' final goal.
Prior to the game, the St. Paul Canadiens also paid tribute to the St. Paul Bengals and the St. Paul Lions, following both football teams winning provincial championships this fall. It was the first in the 40-year history of the St. Paul football program to achieve such success.
On Dec. 3, the Canadiens travelled to Lloydminster to face off against the Lloydminster Bandits, where they grabbed their 15th win in the season.
The Canadiens are currently on an 11 game winning streak and remain at the top of the NEAJBHL standings.
They will be back at home on Dec. 8 to play the Onion Lake Border Chiefs, before playing the Wainwright Bisons also at home on Dec. 9. The Bisons currently sit second in the standings, with 12 wins and two losses.
