St. Paul Canadiens still at top of the league

The St. Paul Canadiens 13-win streak came to an end on Dec. 15 against the Vermilion Tigers, but the team made a quick recovery with a win against Killam Wheat Kings the next day. The Canadiens are now on break until Jan. 5.

ST. PAUL – The St. Paul Canadiens lost its 13-win streak on Dec. 15 against the Vermilion Tigers, but made a quick recovery with its win against Killam Wheat Kings – still reigning as the number one in the standings.

The Tigers set the tone early in the first period when they netted a goal eight minutes into the game. In the second period, the Tigers' extended their lead 2-0, with the Canadiens' halting any other attempts for the opposing team to score.

But the Tigers maintained their momentum during the third period, while the Canadiens struggled to respond, resulting in a 5-0 victory for the Vermilion Tigers.

However, the Canadiens quickly recovered from the setback when they headed to Killam to face off against the Wheat Kings, finishing with an 8-0 victory.

The Canadiens are sitting in first place in the NEAJBHL with 36 points. Sitting in second is the Wainwright Bisons with 30 points, and in third is the Vermilion Tigers with 28 points so far this season, as of Dec. 22.

The Canadiens will host the Vegreville Rangers in St. Paul on Jan. 5, before playing the Cold Lake Ice on Jan. 6 in Cold Lake.
