A three for three trip north has the Oilers sitting third in Alberta.
The Okotoks Oilers (31-13-1-1) secured their first three games in three days weekend road trip sweep of the 2023-24 regular season to extend their winning streak to seven and vault into third spot in the Alberta Junior Hockey League standings.
On Friday, Okotoks rode a quick start to a 6-3 triumph over the Bonnyville Pontiacs.
Jagger Taper and Hunter Sawka scored in the first period, Dean Spak tallied in the middle stanza with Owen MacNeil, Jackson Rowland and Kade Duell tickling twine in the final frame.
Christian Green made 31 saves, several of the highlight reel variety, for his 11th win.
Okotoks took the momentum into Fort McMurray for the first of two decisive victories over the Oil Barons.
Connor Gourley, Sam Huck, MacNeil and Rowland scored in the 4-1 result, backstopped by a 15-save performance from Mikeal Kingo.
The Oilers then made it seven straight wins on Sunday by doubling up the MOB 8-4.
Rowland scored twice in the first period to hit the 20-goal mark and Rylan Brown notched his sixth of the campaign. In the second, Sawka notched his 16th goal, this one on the powerplay, and Huck made it five with a sublime finish on a shorthanded breakaway late in the frame.

Spak, Sawka and Jack Silverberg added third period tallies with Green and Kingo combining to make 27 saves on 30 Fort McMurray shots.
Huck extended his points streak to 18 games. The Western Michigan commit continues to climb the Oilers’ all-time leading scorers charts, passing Austin Wong and moving into seventh spot with 141 points, just three back of Trey DeGraaf and six behind Tanner Laderoute.
The Oilers have one more three games in three days sojourn left in the regular season, a Feb. 2-4 trek with stops in Whitecourt and Drayton Valley.
Next on the docket is some home cooking in the form of four of five home games to close January. This weekend, Okotoks welcomes the Grande Prairie Storm and Spruce Grove Saints for Jan. 19 and 20 dates. Both contests are 7 p.m. puck drops at Okotoks Centennial Arenas.
Earlier in the week, the Oilers made one transaction on Jan. 10, the AJHL roster cutdown deadline day, which saw the team trade second-year goalie Alexander Scheiwiller to the Brooks Bandits for future considerations. Scheiwiller, a 2005-born netminder from Calgary, was then moved to the Saints in a separate transaction.
