RICHMOND — A car has crashed into a hot dog store at a busy intersection in the Metro Vancouver municipality of Richmond, trapping a person who was sent to hospital in critical condition.

Photos and videos on social media show a grey Tesla completely embedded in the storefront and mounting the counter of the Chung Chun Rice Hot Dog shop at No. 3 Road and Westminster Highway.

A person can be heard calling out for help, but cannot be seen in the wreckage.

Richmond RCMP say the crash is under investigation and that all roads have reopened after the temporary closure of the east-bound lanes of Westminster Highway.

BC Emergency Health Services say they received a call at 10:58 a.m. on Friday and one patient was transported to hospital in critical condition.

It says two ambulances responded to the scene, including an advanced life support unit.
