KINNEAR SETTLEMENT, N.B. — New Brunswick RCMP are investigating a four-vehicle crash that left a 25-year-old man dead.

The Mounties say officers responded to a report of a multi-vehicle collision on the Trans-Canada Highway west of Petitcodiac on Tuesday evening.

Police believe the collision happened when a truck that was travelling west on the highway blew a tire and lost control, then crossed over the median and hit a vehicle that was travelling eastbound.

They say a separate collision took place shortly after when one of the truck tires hit the windshield of another vehicle travelling eastbound.

Police say the 25-year-old driver of the first vehicle that was hit by the truck was taken to hospital where he died from his injuries.

They say the driver of one vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and the operators of the third and fourth ones were not injured.
