SEACOW POND, P.E.I. — Search efforts continue on Prince Edward Island for a man accused of wielding a sword and attacking two people.

Police say a man wearing a dark surgical mask approached three people Friday night at Seacow Pond, a rural community on the western tip of the Island, and attacked a woman and a youth before fleeing on foot.

Police have said the 42-year-old woman suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, while the youth suffered minor injuries.

On Sunday afternoon, Cpl. Gavin Moore says the ground search and rescue unit and an RCMP police dog have conducted searches in the area, and while investigators have been following up on tips, the suspect has not yet been identified.

The attack prompted an emergency alert for the surrounding area, which was lifted some hours later.

Moore says Islanders should still lock their windows and doors, keep their lights on and report anything suspicious.
