INNISFAIL - Innisfail and area shoppers can jump-start their holiday shopping during the Christmas Farmers Market.

The annual market is being held on Nov. 18 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Nov.19 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion.

“There's going to be a variety of things from baking to books and arts and crafts,” said Christine Mountain, market manager for the Innisfail Farmers Market. “The ladies auxiliary usually has beef on a bun and pies for sale there as well.”

In addition to home and Christmas décor, crafts, baked goods and a variety of foods, there will be plenty of unique gift ideas for area residents to do some Christmas shopping.

“It's a great place for Christmas gift shopping. We will have a vendor that does pebble art this year. That's an interesting (gift idea),” she said, noting this year the Christmas market is once again filled to capacity with a total of 50 vendors.

“There's quite a few vendors that have Christmas decorations for sale like wreaths and centrepieces,” said Mountain. “There'll be great prices and they'll have some good deals.”

The two-day event runs on a Friday and Saturday, both of which have been busy in past years, noted Mountain.

“I haven't really noticed a difference between Friday and Saturday. They're both really busy,” she said, adding the Christmas Farmers Market is always a popular spot for shoppers wanting an early start to their Christmas shopping.

Mountain is anticipating another good crowd for both days this year.

“(People) like the Christmas market early because that gives them a chance to look for and buy (gift ideas),” said Mountain. “I'm hoping we'll have a great attendance and people enjoy themselves. That's what it's all about.”
