INNISFAIL — Mounties are turning to the public for help in the hopes of identifying a lone masked suspect involved in a brazen armed robbery.
At about 11:23 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26, the Innisfail RCMP detachment received an emergency call about an armed robbery that had just unfolded at the Fas Gas convenience store located at 5107 50th Street.
The local police attended the scene with the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Services, and were able to determine that a lone male suspect wearing a white face covering entered the convenience store while armed with a weapon.
“There was one employee and a customer in the store at the time of the robbery,” reads a portion of the police press release dated Friday, Aug. 27.
No one was physically injured during this incident, police reported.
“The male suspect demanded money from the customer and the employee before fleeing the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.”
Despite extensive patrols conducted by members of the Innisfail RCMP, the male suspect was not located.
Police described the suspect as a tall male with a medium build, and was last seen wearing a black sweater, black shorts, black and white runners, gloves and glasses.
Mounties are continuing their investigation, and are encouraging anyone who might be able to help identify the suspect responsible to contact the Innisfail RCMP at 403-227-3342, or their local police department.
