PENHOLD – This winter the town is offering families a way to connect, stay out of the cold and enjoy some indoor family fun.

Penhold will be hosting its first-ever Winter Carnival on Jan. 14 from 1 to 3 p.m. The carnival takes place indoors at the Penhold Regional Multiplex.

"This is our first winter carnival. We are hosting it to help break up the winter months and bring the community together,” said Melanie Willerth, the town’s events and communications coordinator.

"There will be bouncy castles and carnival style games inside the multiplex,” she added.

Willerth said the inaugural event is a chance to enjoy some family fun during the winter months, noting there is a small fee.

"It costs $5 for individuals, $15 for families and children under age two are free,” she said.

The Penhold Optimist Club will also be selling cotton candy to help raise funds for the new Penhold Skatepark.

In addition to the winter carnival, the town will still be hosting its annual Winterfest event that is held outdoors every year at the Lincoln Street Recreation Centre on Family Day weekend in February.
