Town council has approved a big block party for June 25.
At council's regular meeting on June 13, an application was brought forward by administration to close vehicular traffic to 49th Street Close on June 25 from 4 p.m. to midnight. A report to council, which approved the application unanimously, said the application was supported by 12 of 16 residents on the street.
Henry Wong, the town's director of community services, said in his report the Neighbourhood Block Party program is a local initiative to promote a sense of community and friendship, as well as to develop safe and crime-free neighbourhoods.
