BOWDEN – Council has set a date for a mayoralty candidates forum for the community.

It will take place Thursday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Friendship Centre. Rev. Jason Metcalfe will serve as the moderator.

The election will be held Oct. 16.

There are two candidates running for mayor in Bowden. They are incumbent Robb Stuart and Coun. Earl Wilson.

Stuart is running for a third term as mayor. He has been on council for 13 years, seven as mayor.

Wilson, a Bowden resident for 22 years, has served on council for about six years.

On the Sept. 18 deadline, only six people submitted nominations to run for the six town council seats, so they're all in by acclamation.

They are newcomers Carol Pion, Kerry Kelm and Randy Brown, as well as incumbent councillors Sandy Gamble, Paul Webb and Wayne Milaney.

This would be Gamble's fourth term on council, Webb's second, and Milaney's fourth.

Meanwhile, Penhold will be having its all-candidates forum on Oct. 5, from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. at Memorial Hall. There are two mayoralty candidates – incumbent Dennis Cooper and current councillor Mike Yargeau. There are 13 councillor candidates for the six seats on council.
