INNISFAIL - A local man has been corralled by Mounties in connection to a break-in at the new Tobacconist La Havana business on Main Street.
Innisfail RCMP Sgt. Lori Eiler said the detachment received a report on Oct. 11 that a burglary had occurred at the store.
Eiler said the RCMP's preliminary probe revealed two suspects smashed the front door of the business, entered and made off with an undisclosed amount of product from the store.
She said later that same day Mounties conducted a routine traffic stop and the driver of the vehicle was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Eiler said police observed evidence in the vehicle they believed to be related to the Oct. 11 break and enter.
A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and Mounties then discovered product believed to have been stolen in the break and enter.
Brandon Mulrooney, 23, of Innisfail, has been charged with break and enter and possession of stolen property. He was released by the justice of the peace to attend Red Deer provincial court on Oct. 30.
Eiler said RCMP are still searching for the second suspect in the break-in.
