Frosty weather is to blame for the temporary closure of the playground in Centennial Park.
On April 12 town crews closed off the area after a site inspection deemed some of the supports and concrete blocks had shifted.
Shelley Gagnon, director of community services explained the ground experienced frost heaves that caused the posts to move.
“The structure is not safe,” she explained in an email. The playground, approximately seven or eight years old, will be revisited once the frost is out of the ground.
The town will work with the Kinsmen, who originally fundraised for the playground, to figure out how to go about fixing the area.
No other playgrounds were reported having issues during the inspection.
