INNISFAIL - A recent survey of Chinook’s Edge School Division (CESD) students, staff and parents has found high levels of satisfaction with the academic support being provided in division schools, say officials.

The second annual survey had a total of 4,206 respondents, including 2,494 students and 1,354 parents. The results were released by the division last week.

The survey went out to all staff and parents, as well as all CESD students in grades 4 - 12.

Asked if they are satisfied with the level of student engagement at school, 91 per cent of parent, 84 per cent of student, and 96 per cent of staff respondents said yes.

“The high levels of satisfaction of our student, parents and staff is significant,” said CESD superintendent Kurt Sacher. “We would like to thank our school staff who we know have been intentional about connecting with families during the 2022-23 school year. Their effort to welcome families into our schools is greatly appreciated.”

Promoting and support student attendance remains a high priority for the division, he said.

“This will be a continued area of focus for Chinook’s Edge,” he said. “Having students in the classroom and ready to learn is important for their experience and long-term success. We continue to talk about what we can do to help families and in particular our students.”

Asked if CESD will conduct a third annual survey in 2024, division communications coordinator Laurette Woodward said the division will be gathering student and parent input, although the exact format has yet to be determined.

Headquartered in Innisfail, the 11,000-student CESD has schools across the region.
