INNISFAIL - Chinook's Edge School Division trustees have approved the $127 million 2021-2022 budget.
The budget calls for net amortization of $1.23 million and capital purchase of $1.64 million.
Under the budget, division operating reserves are expected to decline by $2.3 million and division capital reserves expected to declined by $465,000.
The division has made a request to the minister of education to carry an operating deficiency of $2.4 million, along with a list of expenditures for ministerial approval, said treasurer Susan Roy.
Budget projections from schools indicate that student enrolment is expected to stabilize to pre-pandemic levels at about 11,000 students.
“The provincial government has invested substantial resources in career pathways, including internships and dual credit opportunities, which directly supports the divisional goal of career connections moving forward,” she said.
There are 11,000 students in the Innisfail-headquartered CESD.
