INNISFAIL - Several Chinook’s Edge School Division (CESD) trustees have announced their intentions regarding the October school board election.

The 11,700-student CESD includes school across the region. It is headquartered in Innisfail.

Current board chair Holly Bilton, the Innisfail area trustee, says she does plan to seek re-election.

“At this time I do plan to run again. It is still a long way off and I most likely won’t put in nomination papers until the fall,” Bilton told the Albertan.

Kathy Kemmere, the Olds area trustee, also plans to run again.

“As a trustee for Ward 7 I do plan on running again in the next election.  It is too early for me to outline details at this time,” she said.

Gord Kerr, the Didsbury-area trustee, says he will not be seeking re-election in October.

“I have truly enjoyed my time as a trustee with CESD and will miss the people and the work,” he said.

Melissa Copley, the Carstairs/Cremona-area trustee, says she will announce her intentions regarding the October election at a later date.

Delburne/Elnora-area trustee De Anne Hutchison also said she will make an announcement later regarding whether she will seek another term.

Sundre-area trustee Terry Leslie and Penhold/Poplar Ridge area trustee Sherry Cooper did not immediate respond to Albertan requests for comments on their election plans.

Bowden/Spruce View-area trustee Linda Wagers did not respond by press deadline.
