INNISFAIL - Chinook’s Edge School Division (CESD) superintendent Kurt Sacher has been recognized by the College of Alberta School Superintendents for his work in promoting student education and staff development.
Sacher, who has been CESD’s superintendent since 2010, is the 2021 recipient of the college’s EXL Award for Excellence in School System Leadership.
The award recognizes exemplary leadership ability and enhancement of the profession of school system administration.
College officials said Sacher has “collaboratively developed staff learning guides that are applicable to every employee from administrators to support staff throughout the jurisdiction and focus on each employee’s potential and purpose in impacting student success.
“Kurt has been able to proudly demonstrate the impact of cultivating a culture of respect, belonging, and common purpose for the benefit of every student’s achievement. He is uncannily skilled in his role of educational leader.”
Holly Bilton, CESD board chair, said Sacher brings a “spectacular amount of skill” to his work as superintendent.
“Everyone in our division is impacted daily by Kurt’s expectation that all students and staff will achieve success,” said Bilton.
“He truly cares for each person as an individual, and our board has seen students and staff exceed their own expectations because of his belief in them.”
As the recipient of the provincial EXL award, Sacher is eligible for the national EXL Award as Canadian superintendent of the year, which will be presented on July 6 in Ottawa.
