INNISFAIL - Chinook’s Edge School Division intends to hire a company to help in its search for a new superintendent.

During Tuesday’s board of trustees meeting in Innisfail, trustees approved hiring Leaders International to support the board with its search for someone new to replace outgoing superintendent Kurt Sacher.

The division announced Sacher’s planned retirement during the Sept. 10 board meeting.

His retirement will take effect at the end of the 2024-25 school year.

The division plans to hire a new superintendent early in 2025.

Sacher has been CESD’s superintendent for the past 14 years.

According to the division, his career in education has spanned 35 years, 30 of which have involved a variety of leadership roles at the school and division office level.

“His wide-reaching experience has taken him from a beginning role as an educational assistant with special needs students, through to traditional classroom teacher, school-based administrator and into the role of superintendent of schools and chief executive officer for Chinook’s Edge School Division. One priority has remained constant throughout his career: students come first!” says the division in a description of Sacher on its website.
