INNISFAIL – Sherry Cooper has won another term to serve as the Chinook's Edge School Division's Ward 2 trustee.
Unofficial results show Cooper, whose ward represents Penhold, Poplar Ridge and Springbrook, defeated challenger Brian Constantine by a decisive vote of 955 to 464.
In Ward 5, representing Bowden and Spruce View, incumbent Connie Huelsman defeated Sandra Shippelt by a vote of 479 to 252.
The only other contested trustee seat was in Ward 9, representing Carstairs and Cremona. Newcomer Melissa Copley defeated incumbent Sheldon Ball by a vote count of 623 to 482.
Holly Bilton, the incumbent trustee for Innisfail in Ward 4, was acclaimed, as were newcomer Joe-Anne Knispel-Matejka for Ward 1 – Sylvan Lake, incumbent Colleen Butler for Ward 3 – Delburne/Elnora, newcomer Allan Tarnoczi for Ward 6 – Sundre, incumbent Trudy James for Ward 7 – Olds/Reed Ranch, and incumbent Gord Kerr for Ward 8 – Didsbury.
The official election results will be announced at noon hour on Oct. 20.
Trustees will be sworn in and will choose a new board chair at the organizational meeting on Nov. 1.
