INNISFAIL – Local RCMP nabbed a pair of fleeing suspected stolen property culprits after laying down a spike belt.

On Sept. 25, Innisfail RCMP members were on patrol and observed a suspicious truck near a local business with no tail lights on.

Mounties attempted to pull the truck over but it fled at a high rate of speed. Innisfail RCMP Sgt. Lori Eiler said no pursuit was initiated. However, a spike belt was deployed, which successfully disabled the vehicle.

The truck continued to drive away from police with flattened tires but eventually came to a stop, said Eiler.

She said RCMP arrested both the driver and passenger without further incident.

The vehicle was confirmed stolen by police, said Eiler.
