Innisfail RCMP continue to probe complaints of bogus money circulating in town.

At about 9:45 a.m. on Oct. 28 the local detachment received a report of counterfeit money that was received by one of the local financial institutions, said Innisfail RCMP Cpl. Don Morrish.

He said the currency in this case was a $20 bill.

“This is a trend that has been continuing on a regular basis in Innisfail. Members of the general public and our local businesses are reminded to remain diligent when handling cash,” said Morrish. “Many of the counterfeit bills have a different look and different feel than actual cash.”

Morrish said it is important for everyone to look carefully at each bill, and to ensure the bill appears real and the denomination on the holographic security feature matches the value of the bill.

He said on July 7 of this year Innisfail RCMP arrested a Red Deer man who was in possession of more than $1,700 worth of counterfeit Canadian cash that was in $20, $50 and $100 denominations.
