INNISFAIL - There is no longer a COVID-19 outbreak at the Innisfail Health Centre, according to the latest update from Alberta Health Services (AHS).

"An outbreak declared on one unit on Oct. 8, 2023 has been declared over," the health authority reported in the Tuesday, Oct. 24 acute care outbreaks update.

As of Tuesday, Oct. 17, seven health-care workers had tested positive, an increase of five since the week before.

Eleven patients had also tested positive, an increase of two since the Tuesday previous.

Outbreak control measures were implemented on the affected unit, says AHS.

Any patient with symptoms, or who tested positive for COVID-19, was isolated and treated in designated rooms.

As with all outbreaks, at-risk patients on the unit had been tested according to AHS guidelines and contact tracing for patients and health-care workers potentially exposed to the individuals was conducted.
