INNISFAIL - The COVID-19 outbreak at Innisfail Health Centre has grown since first being declared, according to Alberta Health Services (AHS).

As of Tuesday, Oct. 17, seven health care workers had tested positive, an increase of five since the week before.

Eleven patients had also tested positive, an increase of two since the Tuesday previous.

An outbreak was declared on one unit at Innisfail Health Centre on Oct. 8.

Outbreak control measures have been implemented on the affected unit, says AHS.

Any patient with symptoms, or who has tested positive for COVID-19, is isolated and treated in designated rooms.

As with all outbreaks, at-risk patients on the unit have been tested according to AHS guidelines. Contact tracing for patients and health-care workers potentially exposed to these individuals is ongoing.

Visitation restrictions are in place to minimize risk of transmission to and from outside of the hospital.
