The Innisfail Curling Rink is in good health.
At town council's regular meeting on Jan. 11, an administration report stated a life cycle assessment of the facility that was completed last November determined the facility was found to be in “fair/good condition”, and that immediately needed repairs were minor. The assessment went on to say that significant future repairs required for the curling rink, including ones for roof shingles, could be held off for several years.
Council approved a recommendation from administration to accept the assessment report and to include its recommendations for future budget deliberations.
The life cycle assessment of the curling rink, completed by Williams Engineering Canada, follows others that were conducted last September for the Innisfail Twin Arena and Innisfail Aquatic Centre. Both were found to be in “fair condition.”
The reports by Williams Engineering Canada stated the assessments for the infrastructures of the recreational facilities were conducted to determine current conditions and create timelines for future replacement. The assessments included an examination of the facilities' structural components – including foundation, mechanical and electrical systems and building envelope.
