BOWDEN - Members of the Innisfail and Olds RCMP joined together to nab a fleeing motorist in Bowden.

Innisfail RCMP said police first attempted to stop the vehicle in town at about 1 a.m. on Feb. 4.

The vehicle fled from police and was driving in an unsafe and dangerous manner, said RCMP. For public safety reasons police did not pursue the vehicle and a short time later Innisfail and Olds RCMP officers located the fleeing vehicle driving without headlights on in the Town of Bowden.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle and a male fled on foot, leaving the vehicle in gear and allowing it to drive into a snowbank, said RCMP. Police, along with the Red Deer RCMP Police Dog Service, were able to locate the driver and arrest him without incident.

Stephen Wayne Gallant, 27, of no fixed address, has been charged with two counts of dangerous driving, two counts of flight from police, possession of stolen property over $5,000, five counts of breaching a court order, mischief and driving while disqualified. He made his first court appearance last week in Didsbury provincial court.
