PENHOLD – It’s a night to find out more about Penhold and what makes the community a unique and vibrant place to live.

The 2018 Discovery Night invites Penhold residents to learn more about the programs and services offered throughout the year from the town, as well as those from local clubs, groups and organizations.

The event takes place Aug. 22 at the Penhold Regional Multiplex from 6 to 8 p.m.

“It’s a chance for people to come and see what services or programs are offered in town,” said Mike Yargeau, Penhold mayor. “We invite all the community groups so they can have a booth or set up a table.”

Discovery Night, commonly known as fall registration night, is presented by community services each year and includes information tables and family activities. Several town council members will be on hand to speak with residents.

This year there is also a free barbecue hosted by council from 5:30 to 7 p.m. There will also be free balloon art, along with information about community groups, programs and services.

“Council is also putting on a barbecue this year so we’ll be providing burgers and hotdogs and meeting with people,” said Yargeau. “The barbecue is just a chance for council to meet with Penhold residents and listen to any questions or concerns they may have.”

In the past, the event has seen more than 40 information tables or booths by community groups, sports clubs, non-profit organizations, churches, and several other Penhold groups.

“There’s always been a huge turnout every year,” said Yargeau. “It’s always a good evening. It’s also a really good chance for people that are new to town to come out.“
