SPRUCE VIEW - Innisfail RCMP and firefighters throughout Central Alberta have concluded their probe into a house fire in the Spruce View area after finding an elderly man deceased in the home.

At 10:22 a.m. on Sept. 2 Innisfail RCMP were dispatched to a house fire at a rural location west of Spruce View.

About an hour earlier at 9:27 a.m. firefighter crews from the Spruce View, Innisfail and Red Deer County fire departments, along with the county technical rescue team, were dispatched to the scene and worked together for several hours extinguishing the blaze that caused extensive damage to a home, said Innisfail RCMP Sgt. Lori Eiler in a media release.

Eiler said one lone occupant of the home, an 83-year-old male of Spruce View, was located deceased inside the home.

She said RCMP investigated the death and did not find evidence to suggest that further investigation would be required at this time.

County fire investigators have concluded their investigation to determine the cause of the fire, said Eiler, who did not release the cause of the blaze in her release.

She said no further information will be released at this time.
