The Innisfail and District Christmas Bureau and the Innisfail and Area Food Bank received more than $11,000 in donations from Johns Manville on Dec. 11.

Cathy Ouellette, Johns Manville (JM) human resource manager, on behalf of management and employees donated $9,782.44 to the Innisfail Christmas bureau and $1,949 to the food bank. An additional $1,000 was given to Loaves and Fishes in Red Deer as well.

“In addition to the cash for the food bank, we gathered a truckload of food and four turkeys, which will be delivered later today,” said Ouellette. “Our employees are generous.”

She noted that close to $3,000 was raised by their 199 employees directly and that JM matched their efforts. The 2014 funds were raised through an employee-run scrap metal recycling program.

Employee Lane Mottl was on hand along with Cathy Oullette to present the cheque to the Christmas bureau and the food bank.

Last year, the company donated slightly more than $10,000 to the local charities.
