A new farmer’s market in Penhold may result in residents no longer have to travel out of town to find locally produced goods. A five-week trial market is being held out of the Penhold Regional Multiplex; an initiative which organizers hope will lead to a successful long-term market in Penhold.
The town of Penhold’s recreation department is organizing and putting on the market as another way to get residents and local vendors together and to promote community building, said Leanne Worr, recreation coordinator for the town of Penhold.
“Right now we are just getting on our feet,” said Worr, adding that they hope the traffic already generated by activities at the Multiplex will help build customers for the market.
Fourteen vendors participated in the kick-off day for the market, which took place last Saturday. Tables covered in produce, baking, handicraft, and plants filed the Multiplex for the opening weekend.
The market will continue to be held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the foyer of the Multiplex until June 25.
