The Phil-Can Neighbourhood Association of Innisfail is raising support for the Side Door Project with a “Throwback 60's 70's 80's Retro Christmas Party” on Dec. 6.

Grace Gresos, chairperson of the Phil-Can Neighbourhood Association of Innisfail, and her dedicated group of 30 Innisfailians are looking forward to sharing a night of retro entertainment with Ferdi Manansala at the Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion starting at 5 p.m.

“We want to become part of Innisfail's service club mosaic,” said Gresos. “In the past we have helped raise funds for a breast cancer patient, last year's Filipino hurricane victims, and this time our selected charity is the Side Door Project, which runs out of the Innisfail Youth Centre. The youth who use the side door program need support and we want to come behind them.”

She further noted the association is working hard to support the immigrant community within Innisfail but changes to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program have impacted the group, and their resources are strained.

“Our goal is to have three or four functions per year and support different groups every time,” said Gresos. “Innisfail is our community, and we want to serve its citizens as well as we can.”

Tickets are available for $20 from the Sunshine Oriental Store, or call 403-227-1724 or 587-877-0427 for more information.
