RED DEER COUNTY - A Red Deer County man is facing 13 charges in connection to a stolen vehicle that went through a red light and crashed into another vehicle at an intersection.
City of Red Deer RCMP said in a March 8 news release that on Jan. 21, local Mounties located a vehicle that had been reported stolen earlier that day. When RCMP attempted to stop it, the vehicle fled.
Later that evening at about 10 p.m., members of the local RCMP’s Crime Reduction Unit located the stolen vehicle but it once again fled as police attempted to stop it, said the news release.
Officers came upon the stolen vehicle after it had struck another vehicle at the intersection of Gaetz Avenue and 71 Street where the stolen vehicle had driven through a red light. Following the collision, the suspect exited the vehicle and fled on foot.
Red Deer RCMP members followed the suspect and arrested him as he was attempting to gain entrance to a home in the area.
