Four people who were charged in relation to a drug bust at an Innisfail pet store in August will have a preliminary hearing in Red Deer provincial court on Sept. 24.

Const. Jordan St. Croix, the lead investigator on the case, said Kenneth Powell, Nancy Gosney, William Cunningham and Wessam Haimour are all facing similar charges of drug trafficking and firearms-related offences.

St. Croix said a significant amount of drugs, money and weapons were seized from the store but wouldn't provide details on exact amounts.

On the evening of Aug. 18 Innisfail RCMP, two Calgary-based ALERT teams, and the Red Deer and Edmonton RCMP emergency response team and Innisfail Traffic Sevices executed a warrant on the Innisfail Dog House, a residence and two vehicles.

At the time two men were arrested but the owners of the business remained at large.

Preliminary hearings are held to determine if there is enough evidence for a trial to be warranted and can be requested by the Crown or the defence.
