PENHOLD - Penhold mayor Dennis Cooper attended an open house on the Springbrook Area Redevelopment Plan held at the Springbrook fire hall and citizens gave plenty of feedback for the future of the hamlet.

"There was quite a few people there and it was very well attended by the people of Springbrook," said Cooper during a council meeting on March 13. "We had a chance to speak with a number of planners and councillors there."

The open house on March 2 was held to allow for public feedback and ideas regarding the future direction and development of the hamlet.

Cooper noted they review the area redevelopment plan every five or six years.

There were two areas that Penhold council discussed about the Springbrook Area Redevelopment Plan.

"Two things that we talked about (and suggested) was enclosing the Springbrook area, that a strip of land along the highway (2A) is included," said Cooper. "Also taking a look at controlling the height of buildings around the airport so it doesn't affect airborne operations."

"I talked to the planners and the councillors about that in the open house (March 2)," he added.

During the council meeting Cooper noted there was a request from Red Deer County for comment regarding the intention of the new area redevelopment plan. Cooper said council would forward their suggestions to county.

"When we're asked to comment about planning we make sure we give it to them in writing because we're a neighbouring municipality," said Cooper.
