Investigation continues of the suspicious death of Dana Jane Turner, whose remains were located last week outside of Innisfail.
On Sunday morning, Oct. 9 Innisfial RCMP were dispatched to a rural area about 10 km west of town.
“Someone reported finding possible human remains,” explained Sgt. Tim Taniguchi, media relations for RCMP, adding that Innisfail police and Red Deer forensics attended the scene to confirm it was human remains.
“There was a ground search utilizing police dog services, serious crimes branch, Innisfail RCMP detachment members and a number of local volunteers from a local search team,” he said.
Turner, 31, from Fort Saskatchewan was last seen August 14 in Edmonton wearing a dark jacket with distinctive patches on it. She was with an unknown male driving a blue Mazda 3. The vehicle was later located in September.
Last week, her body was taken to a medical examiners office in Calgary and with the assistance of a forensic anthropologist her identity was confirmed.
The cause and method of her death is still being determined. The death is considered suspicious and RCMP continues to investigate.
Police continue their investigation and ask for any information concerning her death to contact Fort Saskatchewan RCMP at 780-992-6100, local RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
