INNISFAIL – Last spring’s Boob Tour did not have record setting attendance but it set a new eye-popping mark for the amount of money raised for cancer research.
On June 21 committee members for the Innisfail Boob Tour handed the Alberta Cancer Foundation a cheque for $17,400, an amount that was $2,000 more than what was raised during the record-setting attendance event in 2023.
Before 2023, the annual event had never before raised even more than $10,000.
The 11th annual Boob Tour for Innisfail on April 16 at the Innisfail Royal Canadian Legion Branch #104 attracted about 270 citizens who each paid $30 a ticket, which was about 30 short of a sell-out, which was the case in 2023.
“We’re very happy because we didn't quite sell out. But even though our numbers were down a little bit we did better on our auctions and silent auction items,” said Boob Tour co-organizer Danny Rieberger. “So that gave us our best year ever.”
Rieberger said the increasing attendance and funds raised since the pandemic bodes well for the event’s future in Innisfail.
“We are optimistic to carry on in the future,” he said. “We're developing a really good working relationship with the Alberta Cancer Foundation.”
