The Innisfail High School Junior Varsity (JV) volleyball boys are bronze medal winners in the Central Alberta Sports Athletic Association (CASAA) 3A Zone playoffs.

Coach Deen Lockhat's JV Cyclones travelled to Wetaskiwin on Nov. 13 to compete against the Rocky Mountain West Central Rebels, Stettler's William E. Hay, and the Wetaskiwin Sabres for the Central Alberta 3A Zone Championships.

“We finished in fourth place during the season with a record of two wins and four losses,” said Lockhat. “Going to Wetaskiwin for zones, the boys lost their first match against the hometown Sabres in two straight sets.”

For the bronze medal, the Cyclones played Stettler's William E. Hay team and won in two straight games.

“Our boys fought hard,” said Lockhat. “They had a great season and I am proud of all of them.”

The JV Cyclones team included Matt Coakwell, Nolan Pochapsky, Trey McLaughlin, Lucas Huston, Tyler Bradshaw, Mischa Maree, Ryan Wachter and Simon Bigger.

“This is the first medal for the boys program in quite a few years,” said Lockhat. “Hopefully we can continue to see this success in the future in our new gym.”
