Fire Hall Committee formed
With plans for a new fire hall outlined in the 2011 budget, council has approved the formation of a fire hall committee to begin planning the new facility.
Three members of the Innisfail Fire Department, the Director of Corporate Services Daryl Joyce, and one member of council will be sitting on the committee.
The town has put out invitations to three different engineering firms to create proposals for the relocation of the fire hall to the current library building.
Once these proposals are submitted to the town, the fire hall committee will review them and bring the best one back to council as a recommendation for approval, said Innisfail CAO Helen Dietz.
After the selection of one of the proposals there will be a public consultation period and open house for residents who wish to view or give feedback on the proposal, said Dietz.
PCPS agreement renewed
Council approved a finalized agreement with Parkland Community Planning Services (PCPS) that will ensure the use of the company’s services for the next three years.
In the fall, Innisfail town council passed a motion to accept the new format and model of PCPS that was developed after the City of Red Deer decided not to continue contracting with PCPS for municipal planning services.
The new agreement outlines the new rate structure for municipalities still contracting with PCPS. Innisfail entered into an agreement with PCPS at a rate of $8.18 per capita, totaling $64,449 annually.
