INNISFAIL – A month-long RCMP investigation has led to multiple Criminal Code and drug-related charges laid against an Innisfail man.
RCMP said in a news release issued on Oct. 9 that its local General Investigation Section concluded its probe with the execution of a search warrant the day before at a residence on 50A Ave. Cres.
Police said they seized multiple ounces of methamphetamine, a large quantity of fentanyl and quantities of GHB, MDMA, psilocybin (magic mushrooms) and diverted prescription drugs.
The news release added a prohibited weapon -- a switchblade knife -- and stolen property were also seized.
Matthew Gordon Nation, 39, of Innisfail, is facing numerous offences, including possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, said the news release.
Nation has been remanded in custody until Oct. 18 when he is scheduled for a Red Deer court appearance.
Assisting the Innisfail RCMP General Investigation Section in the probe was the RCMP Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Team, Alberta Sheriffs Safe Communities and Neighbourhoods (SCAN) team and Innisfail Integrated Traffic Unit.
