INNISFAIL – Local Mounties have laid burglary charges against three Olds residents following a break-in at a rural lease site.

On Dec. 27, Innisfail RCMP responded to a complaint of the lease site burglary north of the Innisfail Airport.

Innisfail RCMP Staff Sgt. Chris Matechuk said police located a suspicious vehicle near the Fas Gas in Penhold. Through the investigation, police were able to link the break and enter to the suspicious vehicle. Matechuk said three suspects were charged with multiple offences, including break and enter and possessing break-in tools.

Charged are Olds residents Thomas Horner, 62, Gordon Johnson, 38, and 32-year-old Kimberley Richards. Matechuk said Horner will appear in Red Deer provincial court on Jan. 23 while Johnson and Richards will face the charges in the same courthouse on Jan. 10.

Meanwhile, Innisfail Mounties were called to an ongoing burglary at a local insurance company on Jan. 3.

Matechuk said when police attended they arrested a male inside the business.

Kyle Keenan, 35, of Red Deer, was subsequently charged with multiple offences, including break and enter, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime, and assaulting a police officer.

Keenan, who is in custody, was scheduled to appear in Red Deer provincial court on Jan. 5.
