INNISFAIL -  Innisfail RCMP is putting speeders on notice after numerous violations were noted in a school zone on the opening morning of the 2024-25 school year.

RCMP conducted a speed enforcement check stop where six speeding violations and one warning notice were issued for speeding within the school zone, police said in a release issued Tuesday afternoon.

Traffic safety is one of the Innisfail RCMP strategic priorities approved by the Town of Innisfail council through the RCMP Annual Performance Plan.

“Citizens should expect increased speed enforcement from the Innisfail RCMP at all schools in Innisfail, Penhold and Spruce View throughout the school year,” police said in the Sept. 3 release.

RCMP reminds drivers that the school zone speed limit is 30 kilometres an hour.
