INNISFAIL – Mounties are asking the public to be on the lookout for a motor vehicle that was stolen in Innisfail during the early morning hours.

RCMP Cpl. Troy Savinkoff said in a media release that an unattended, running 2019 white Honda Civic with Alberta licence plate HMT966 was stolen on Oct. 26.

“If the vehicle is spotted, please contact RCMP immediately,” said Savinkoff. “In winter months RCMP often see increases in thefts of vehicles left running.”

Savinkoff said RCMP is advising residents to take precautions to help keep their vehicles from being stolen by a criminal.

“Leaving keys in a vehicle is tempting to any criminal,” he said. “Never leave your keys in the car or in the ignition if you are not in the vehicle.

“Often times criminals will watch and wait for moments when individuals go inside or into a store after starting their car.”
